The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections will commence on October 9, 2026.
The commission disclosed this on Monday following an assessment visit to Kaduna State by its Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, and members of the commission.
INEC said the visit formed part of its ongoing assessment of preparations for the 2027 general elections, particularly across the North-West.
The commencement of PVC collection will provide eligible voters who are newly registered, transferred their registration or require replacement cards with an opportunity to obtain their voter cards ahead of the elections.
The commission’s announcement comes as preparations for the 2027 elections begin to move into a more active phase, with political parties and prospective candidates already positioning themselves ahead of the electoral contest.
INEC has continued to emphasise the importance of early preparation as it works towards conducting the 2027 general elections.
Eligible Nigerians are expected to follow the commission’s official guidelines and collection arrangements once the exercise begins.
