The Federal Government will convene a National Youth Confab in October, bringing together young Nigerians from all 360 federal constituencies alongside representatives of Nigerians in the diaspora.

Minister of Youth Development Ayodele Olawande announced the plan in Abuja while briefing journalists on preparations for the national youth engagement.

The two-week programme will begin with a nationwide virtual consultation involving Nigerians aged 18 to 35.

A physical conference will then be held in Abuja, with delegates expected from the 360 federal constituencies and six representatives of Nigerians in the diaspora.

The government says the conference is intended to give young Nigerians a platform to discuss national challenges and develop practical solutions.

The programme is being organised by the Federal Ministry of Youth Development in collaboration with youth networks and other stakeholders.

Its theme is “Next Gen Nigeria: Crafting Solutions, Owning the Future.”

Olawande said the process would be youth-led, with the ministry providing coordination and guidance.

Young entrepreneurs, students, farmers, professionals, technology innovators and other young Nigerians are expected to participate in the consultation.

The minister said the objective was to move young people beyond participation in national conversations to active involvement in developing solutions and influencing national development.

The conference is expected to produce proposals that can feed into government policy discussions.
