Olajengbesi: Accord Targets Over One Million Votes for Tinubu in Osun

The Accord Party in Osun State has set its sights on mobilising more than one million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, according to Pelumi Olajengbesi, the party’s candidate for Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency.
Olajengbesi disclosed the target after meeting Seyi Tinubu, son of the President, in what he described as part of efforts to consolidate the political reconciliation that followed the recent Osun governorship election.
The lawyer, who was also spokesman for Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election campaign, said the reconciliation in the state and Adeleke’s expressed support for Tinubu’s re-election had created what he described as a pathway for a stronger presidential vote for Tinubu in Osun.
“With the reconciliation achieved in Osun State and the commitment expressed by Governor Ademola Adeleke towards President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our political objective is clear: to mobilise over one million votes for President Tinubu in Osun State in the next presidential election,” Olajengbesi said.
The claim represents a significant shift in the political calculation around Osun ahead of 2027, particularly because Tinubu finished second in the state in the 2023 presidential election.
At the 2023 poll, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party secured 354,366 votes in Osun, while Tinubu polled 343,945. Peter Obi of the Labour Party recorded 23,283 votes.
Olajengbesi’s proposed target would therefore require a substantial increase from Tinubu’s 2023 performance.
Osun recorded more than 2.3 million registered voters and about 1.9 million collected Permanent Voter Cards, according to figures cited from the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The political landscape has also changed since the 2023 presidential election.
Adeleke won the August 2026 governorship election with 511,067 votes, defeating the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes. The ADC candidate, Najeem Salam, recorded 17,180 votes.
After his victory, Adeleke reiterated his support for Tinubu’s re-election.
Olajengbesi said the emerging political understanding in Osun should now be converted into a broader mobilisation for the President ahead of 2027.
His meeting with Seyi Tinubu also produced praise for the President’s son, whom he credited with supporting youth participation in governance and maintaining what he described as a fair position during the Osun governorship election.
