More than 2,000 student-athletes from 18 countries and 82 universities have gathered in Cairo for the 12th All-Africa University Games.
The competition brings together university athletes from across the continent in a major multi-sport event.
The Games provide a platform for young African athletes to compete internationally while representing their universities and countries.
Cairo’s hosting of the event further places Egypt at the centre of African university sport during the 2026 competition calendar.
The tournament also provides an avenue for universities to combine sporting competition with student development and continental interaction.
