The Dangote Petroleum Refinery sourced about 60 per cent of its crude feedstock from Nigeria in the 12 months to June 2026, according to details contained in the refinery’s initial public offering prospectus.

The prospectus stated that the refinery sourced an estimated 116 million barrels of crude from Nigeria during the period through arrangements involving NNPC Limited, international oil companies and domestic producers.

The refinery processed approximately 26.4 million metric tonnes of crude feedstock during the 12-month period.

The company said its domestic supplies included crude obtained through term contracts with NNPC Limited, including arrangements under the Federal Government’s crude-for-naira programme.

The remaining 40 per cent of its crude requirements was sourced internationally through spot purchases and other supply arrangements.

The refinery said its procurement model allows it to use crude from different origins and grades depending on market conditions and refinery economics.

It had processed 36 different crude grades as of June 30, 2026, according to the prospectus.

The disclosure comes amid continuing debate over domestic crude availability and the ability of Nigerian refineries to obtain sufficient local crude to operate at capacity.

The refinery also warned investors that its existing supply arrangements do not guarantee uninterrupted access to crude, citing possible disruptions in upstream production, supplier commitments, international restrictions and security incidents affecting oil infrastructure.

The figures provide a clearer picture of the balance between domestic and international crude supplies supporting Nigeria’s largest refinery.
