Kunle Rasheed Adegoke, SAN, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Osun Central Senatorial District, has announced a ₦2.5 million intervention for the third edition of the Osun FA/Smartcity U-16 Football League.
Adegoke, popularly known as KRAD, said he would provide ₦250,000 each to six clubs from Osun Central participating in the competition, amounting to ₦1.5 million.
He will also contribute ₦1 million to the organisers of the Osun FA/Smartcity U-16 League to support the staging of the tournament.
The six benefiting clubs are Crescent FC, Inisa; Hommydays FC, Osogbo; 3FC NG, Ifon; Ovit FA, Iragbiji; Igbajo United Feeders and Golden Boys, Osogbo.
The third edition features 12 teams competing for honours.
The previous edition was won by Hommydays FC of Osogbo, who defeated Ejigbo FA on penalties after a 1–1 draw in regulation time.
Adegoke said his intervention was motivated by his belief that sports can provide young people with pathways to development, employment and professional opportunities.
He also outlined plans to advocate for improved sports facilities, stronger grassroots competitions and talent identification if elected, alongside partnerships in coaching education, sports medicine and sports administration.
The APC candidate congratulated the Osun Football Association, Smartcity PLC, participating clubs, coaches, officials and players ahead of the tournament.
