The Ebonyi State Chapter of the Asiwaju Grassroots Foundation (AGF) has endorsed Senator Engr. Kenneth Chukwuemeka Eze, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Ebonyi Central Senatorial District, ahead of the 2027 general election, while reaffirming its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration.
The position followed a meeting of the state chapter in Abakaliki on Sunday and was contained in a statement signed by its Coordinator, Mr. Nweze Emmanuel.
Nweze said the chapter’s decision followed extensive deliberations on the political situation in Ebonyi Central, the forthcoming elections and the need for effective representation at the National Assembly.
According to him, the organisation also considered the importance of consolidating the political support base of President Tinubu and strengthening the APC’s grassroots structure ahead of the 2027 elections.
The coordinator said the chapter considered Senator Eze’s political experience, familiarity with the district and his capacity to represent the interests of constituents before arriving at its decision.
The group said its endorsement of Eze was also consistent with its commitment to supporting candidates who, in its assessment, can effectively connect grassroots concerns with federal policy and representation.
The statement described the forthcoming senatorial election as an important contest for the people of Ebonyi Central, stressing the need for representation capable of articulating constituency interests and pursuing issues affecting the people at the federal level.
The Ebonyi AGF chapter identified infrastructure, economic opportunities, youth development, education, healthcare and effective representation among the areas requiring sustained attention.
It also said the organisation would continue to mobilise and engage its grassroots structures in support of President Tinubu’s administration and the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Having carefully considered the political situation and the importance of effective representation for Ebonyi Central, the Ebonyi State Chapter of the Asiwaju Grassroots Foundation has resolved to support the candidature of Senator Engr. Kenneth Chukwuemeka Eze,” Nweze said.
He added that the chapter remained committed to the political ideals and national development agenda associated with President Tinubu, stressing that grassroots engagement would remain central to the organisation’s activities.
The organisation said it would take its position to the grassroots and continue engagement with stakeholders across Ebonyi Central as political activities ahead of the 2027 elections gather momentum.
The endorsement brings the Ebonyi State structure of AGF into the political conversation surrounding the forthcoming National Assembly contest, while its renewed declaration of support for Tinubu places the senatorial endorsement within the wider political framework of the APC’s preparations for 2027.
The Asiwaju Grassroots Foundation said the resolution was reached at its Abakaliki meeting on Sunday and represents the position of its Ebonyi State chapter.
