Nigeria has appointed its Ambassador and Permanent Representative to Austria and the International Atomic Energy Agency, Dr Florence Ajimobi, as the country’s Governor on the IAEA Board of Governors for the 2026–2028 term.
The appointment follows Nigeria’s election to the 35-member IAEA Board during the agency’s 70th General Conference in Vienna.
Ajimobi will represent Nigeria on the board during the new two-year term.
The IAEA Board of Governors is responsible for considering and approving the agency’s programme and budget and making recommendations to the General Conference on key matters within its mandate.
Nigeria’s new representation comes as the country continues to engage internationally on nuclear science, energy, safety and other peaceful applications of nuclear technology.
